On July 9th, 2021, Down’s Septic & Drain was bought by Wilson Plumbing & Heating. Wilson was founded in Akron in 1958 to provide quality services for residential and commercial plumbing and heating systems. The team at Down’s Septic & Drain is thrilled about this new development and looks forward to continuing to innovate the septic and drain industry while providing the above and beyond customer service we are known for.

Family Owned & Operated

Down’s Septic & Drain has provided reliable drain cleaning and septic system services to our customers since 1965. Robert Downs purchased Ackley's Drain Service in 1964 and changed the company name a short time later to Down’s Drain & Septic Service. 

In 1980, Robert semi-retired and his sons Mike and Randy took over the day-to-day operation of the business. Mike and Randy continued to provide the drain cleaning and septic system services their father did since he purchased the business.

Dad Retires, Sons Get to Work

Mike started working for the company at 14 years old, riding with his dad on service calls. In 1977, Mike took over the service department and running his own drain cleaning and septic service calls.

Randy began working for Down’s in 1979 part-time and then began full-time employment in 1983 taking over the service department from Mike. With Randy taking over the service department work, Mike was able to take assume the responsibilities of the septic tank division.

Today & the Next Steps for the Future

The team at Down’s Septic & Drain never sits still. We are the leading septic and drain service in the Summit and Medina County areas. With our Treatment trucks, our expert services result in far less waste going to the local disposal facilities. In addition, we are always up on the latest state and EPA regulations affecting the septic system users in our area.
